Bread and Butter Pickles

Ingredients
  

  • 4 quarts cucumbers sliced
  • 6 medium white onions sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • cup salt
  • 5 cups sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp turmeric
  • 3 cups vinegar
  • 1 ½ tsp celery seed
  • 2 Tbs mustard seed

Instructions
 

  • Combine cucumbers, onions, garlic, and salt and cover with cracked ice.
  • Set aside for 3 hours, then drain well.
  • Combine sugar, turmeric, vinegar, celery seed, and mustard seed.
  • Add cucumbers and onion and bring to a boil.
  • Put into jars and seal.
