Divinity
I remember grandma making this candy just before Christmas. It tasted like heaven. She also made a variation where she added chocolate chips just before pouring it into the pan, and swirling the chocolate into the divinity.
Ingredients
- 4 cups sugar
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1 cup water
- 3 egg whites
- 1 cup nuts optional
Instructions
- Mix first three ingredients. Heat to soft ball stage.
- Beat egg whites to stiff peak.
- Slowly pour one half of sugar mixture (at soft ball stage) over the egg whites.
- Cook remaining sugar to hard ball stage.
- Pour over egg mixture and beat until thick.
- Add nuts.
- Pour onto platter and let cool.
