Refrigerator Rolls
Ingredients
- 1 pkg dry yeast
- ¼ cup water lukewarm
- 2 ¾ cups water lukewarm
- ¾ cup shortening melted
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 egg whites stiffly beaten
- 9 cups flour sifted
Instructions
- Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup lukewarm water.
- Add the 2 3/4 cups lukewarm water and melted shortening.
- Add salt and sugar.
- Next, add stiffly beaten egg whites, then sifted flour.
- Cover and place in refrigerator at least overnight before using. Dough will be sticky, but don't add more flour.
- Let rise 2 to 5 hours.
- Bake in 400-425°F oven for 15-20 minutes.
Notes
"Brown and Serve" rolls can be made by baking in 300 degree oven for about 30 minutes, then browned when needed. These will freeze.
