Snicker Doodles
Ingredients
- 1 cup vegetable shortening (part butter adds flavor)
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 ¾ cups flour
- 2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- 2 Tbs sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
Instructions
- Cream together shortening, sugar, and eggs.
- Sift together flour, cream of tartar, baking powder,and salt.
- Add dry ingredients to wet mixture.
- Form into balls the size of small walnuts. Roll balls into a mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
- Place about 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake about 10 minutes at 400°.
- These cookies will puff up during the baking, but will flatten out with wrinkled tops. The tops will be lightly browned but soft when done.
