Snicker Doodles

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup vegetable shortening (part butter adds flavor)
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 ¾ cups flour
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 Tbs sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions
 

  • Cream together shortening, sugar, and eggs.
  • Sift together flour, cream of tartar, baking powder,and salt.
  • Add dry ingredients to wet mixture.
  • Form into balls the size of small walnuts. Roll balls into a mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
  • Place about 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake about 10 minutes at 400°.
  • These cookies will puff up during the baking, but will flatten out with wrinkled tops. The tops will be lightly browned but soft when done.
