Spiced Nuts with Bacon
Salty and sweet bar nuts.
Equipment
- Sheet pan
- Parchment paper
Ingredients
- 3 cups toasted nuts assorted
- 3 ounces real bacon bits or 1 pound of bacon, cooked and cut into small pieces
- ¼ cup pure maple syrup
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon dry mustard not prepared mustard
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, minced or 1 tsp of dried thyme
- ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- ½ teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Put parchment paper on baking sheet. If bacon bits need crisping, then cover with bacon and put in oven approximately 5 minutes (until crisp texture).
- Mix dry ingredients together. Add nuts and bacon and stir together.
- Add maple syrup and stir until completely coated.
- Turn out onto parchment paper lined cookie sheet and back approximately 25 minutes, stirring nuts every 10 minutes.
- Allow to cool completely then break into pieces.
Notes
If using salted nuts, then eliminate the extra salt from the recipe.
