real bacon bits
or 1 pound of bacon, cooked and cut into small pieces

pure maple syrup

cup
brown sugar
½
teaspoon
dry mustard
not prepared mustard

tablespoon
fresh thyme, minced
or 1 tsp of dried thyme

teaspoon
cayenne pepper
½
teaspoon
Old Bay seasoning

teaspoons
kosher salt
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Put parchment paper on baking sheet. If bacon bits need crisping, then cover with bacon and put in oven approximately 5 minutes (until crisp texture).
Mix dry ingredients together. Add nuts and bacon and stir together.
Add maple syrup and stir until completely coated.
Turn out onto parchment paper lined cookie sheet and back approximately 25 minutes, stirring nuts every 10 minutes.
Allow to cool completely then break into pieces.
Notes
If using salted nuts, then eliminate the extra salt from the recipe.
