Sun Dill Pickles
Ingredients
- cucumbers
- ¼ tsp Alum
- ¼ tsp dill
- clove garlic
- ¼ cup pickling salt
- ¼ cup vinegar
- 4 cups water
Instructions
- Wash whole cucumbers and pack into quart jars.
- In each jar, add 1/4 tsp alum, 1/4 tsp dilll and a clove of garlic.
- Combine the pickling salt, vinegar, and water. Bring to a boil and pour over cucumbers. Wipe lip of jars, heat canning flats and seal as usual.
- Set in sun for two weeks, then store in dark place until used.
Notes
I have found it works to slice cucumbers lengthwise and pack into jars. These are good garlic dill pickles.
