Cranberry Cake with Butter Sauce

- 3 Tbs butter
- ½ cup evaporated milk
- 2 cups flour
- 1 ½ tsp baking soda
- 2 cups fresh cranberries halved
- 1 cup nuts
- 1 cup sugar
- ½ cup water
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp baking powder
Sauce
- ¾ cup butter
- 1 ½ Tbs flour
- ¾ cup half & half
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 ½ tsp vanilla
- red food coloring
Cream butter and sugar, add milk and water.
Add dry ingredients and mix well.
Fold in cranberries and nuts.
Spread into a 9x13-inch greased pan and bake for 30 minutes or until done at 350°. Check with toothpick.
Sauce
Mix sauce ingredients and cook over low heat until thickened, stirring constantly.
Tint pinkish and serve warm by spooning sauce over each piece of cake as served.
