Cranberry Cake with Butter Sauce

Ingredients 

  • 3 Tbs butter
  • ½ cup evaporated milk
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 ½ tsp baking soda
  • 2 cups fresh cranberries halved
  • 1 cup nuts
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp baking powder

Sauce

  • ¾ cup butter
  • 1 ½ Tbs flour
  • ¾ cup half & half
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp vanilla
  • red food coloring

Instructions

  • Cream butter and sugar, add milk and water.
  • Add dry ingredients and mix well.
  • Fold in cranberries and nuts.
  • Spread into a 9x13-inch greased pan and bake for 30 minutes or until done at 350°. Check with toothpick.

Sauce

  • Mix sauce ingredients and cook over low heat until thickened, stirring constantly.
  • Tint pinkish and serve warm by spooning sauce over each piece of cake as served.
