Dilly Bread

Ingredients 

  • 1 small carton cottage cheese at room temperature
  • 4 Tbs sugar
  • 2 Tbs dehydrated onion flakes
  • 2 Tbs butter
  • 2 Tbs dill seed
  • 2 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp soda
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 2 pkgs yeast
  • ½ cup warm water
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 3 ½ cups flour
  • butter
  • salt

Instructions

  • Mix first 8 ingredients together. 
  • Soften yeast in warm water.
  • Add cottage cheese mixture to yeast mixture. Add flour. Mix well. Cover and let rise 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
  • Stir down and let rise until double.
  • Bake at 350° for 30 to 40 minutes. Cover with foil for the last 15 minutes.
  • Rub with butter and sprinkle with salt when bread comes out of oven.

Notes

May bake ahead and freeze.
