Missouri Black Walnut and Kentucky Bourbon Pie

Ingredients 

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar divided
  • 4 Tbs cornstarch
  • 5 Tbs bourbon
  • ½ cup butter melted
  • 1 ¼ cups chopped black walnuts (or English walnuts)
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 (9-inch) unbaked pie shell

Instructions

  • Beat eggs with 3/4 cup sugar.
  • Mix remaining 1/2 cup sugar with cornstarch; add to egg mixture.
  • Fold in bourbon, butter, walnuts and chocolate chips. Pour filling into unbaked 9-inch pie shell.
  • Bake in preheated 375° oven for 15 minutes.
  • Reduce oven temperature to 325°; bake 15 minutes, or until filling is set and crust is golden.
